New Moon in Leo

On Saturday, August 11 the New Moon is in Leo "the sign of all things Mane Tossing and Being Seen," according to Jacqueline Gates.

April Elliott Kent writes that the New Moon in Leo and a Solar Eclipse. "with the Sun and Moon square Jupiter in Scorpio--the impulse to break with the past and hurdle toward a new adventure is at least as strong as Leo's desire to bloom where we're planted."

Gates suggests using the Dark Moon days (ie a few days before any New Moon) to take a few days off "from the usual hullabaloo to do some intentional and strategic resetting." Kent offers that breaking with the past can be very liberating.

At this New Moon, we have a chance to make changes that really mean something.  So let's clear out and clean and reset.

What if you take a few days off from the usual to do some intentional and strategic resetting?

When is the last time you checked your cosmetics? This would be a good time to check. Do you have some past their best-by date? It may be time to ditch the ones that are looking old, or are out of style. The lipstick colors have really changed in the last couple of years.

Make a list of the new items you will need to replace.

A Day of Balance and New Beginning

Solar Eclipse CCO
Solar Eclipse CCO Pixabay
Today is a day of Perfect Balance! The Equinox, the Light and the Dark, the Yin and the Yang in perfect balance within and without!

Today we have a ONCE IN A LIFETIME Rare Convergence of Cosmic Events!

I read at Mystic Mamma a "total Solar Eclipse coinciding with Northern Hemisphere's Spring Equinox and Southern Hemisphere's Autumn or Fall Equinox hasn't happened since 1662 and will not happen again until March 20, 2034. (WOW!)  And an Equinox and Solar Eclipse coinciding with a Super Moon?  Not again until 2053!"

A true day of beginnings. A new moon, a new season, and the moon moving into the beginning of the Zodiac and in the midst of this a total solar eclipse! It's all new.

  • The SUPER Pisces New Moon (it's a SUPER Moon!)
  • The Total Solar Eclipse (the only Total Solar Eclipse of 2015)
  • The March Equinox
"This is such a powerful triplicate of events! The Equinox, the Light and the Dark, the Yin and the Yang in perfect balance within and without, is amplified by the Energy of a Grand and Total Solar Eclipse, bringing us into the Dark from the Light to go within, to purify, to release and to return radiantly into the Light!"  ~Big Sky Astrology

This is a very significant and energetically important day...It's time to release the old and design and embrace the new.

Pisces (the place of endings) New Super Moon carries the same theme of letting go and then new birth and renewal following right behind in Aries making all things bright.
"Pisces energy encourages us to dream and vision what we can contribute to create the world we wish to inhabit." ~Mystic Mamma
This is a time when we are inspired and energized to make real our dreams and wishes.  The Super Moon (moon at it's closest point to Earth) makes this a strong New Moon. The Solar Eclipse amplifies the energy of this New Moon. Read more from Amy Flynn

To see Solar eclipse 2015: highlights Click Here
Watch highlights from the solar eclipse as seen from Newquay in Cornwall, from Svalbard in Norway and the Faroe Islands

Interesting Fact about the Total Eclipse:
"...the total portion of it will only be visible to those at the north pole. I read a science article online that said after 6 months of polar night (with the sun staying beneath the horizon all day long for 6 months)- the eclipse will be the day that the sun first appears in the sky and it will get fully eclipsed by the moon, which will bring a few minutes of darkness across the land." ~Divine Harmony
Do you know the story about  Demeter? "Each Spring Demeter (her Roman name Ceres) joyfully welcomes back her daughter Persephone from the underworld and the earth begins to turn green again. The sun returns and as the days grow longer, the warm winds begin to blow."  I have an article about her story. Read the story Here

I read that this portal of energetic support will last for the next 6 months. Post in the comments what new beginning are you planning? I would love to know what you are up to.

Virgo Full Moon

Moon opposes Sun at 10:07 am, Mar.5, 2015

As I've said many times before, I understand very little about astrology. I do like to read what April Elliott Kent writes as she usually puts her knowledge of astrology into stories of insights about her own life experience and then extrapolates from that a wee bit of coaching from the lesson she has learned.

This month she writes about the Virgo Full Moon with the sun in the opposite sign of Pisces.

Kent writes: "We're reminded at the Full Moon, when the Sun and Moon are in opposite signs, that we tend to fare best when our natural tendencies are tempered by their opposites. Virgo is at its best when it borrows from its opposite sign, Pisces, which tends to react empathetically to human frailty. Or course, a Virgo ... might say that Pisces' policy of rewarding imperfection with kindness is the same as having no standards at all. Pisces would say nothing in response, but simply smile understandingly."

Important take away - Balance

"... the ability to perceive the faults that prevent others from being great is no more important than the ability to make them believe that they are capable of greatness at all."

Do you have a team, clients, employee, or children? These are important words to remember. We are all coaches to someone. What kind of coach are you?

Mark Yarnell Mentor and Inspiration

"Do One Thing At A Time. Do It Right.
Finish It"  - Mark Yarnell

Today we lost a Legend in our Network Marketing Industry. I am very saddened. My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Yarnell family.

Mark was a great mentor, an inspiration and one of network marketing's greatest success stories. He wrote that he felt a moral responsibility to mentor others like the network marketing pro Richard Kall unselfishly mentored him.

Mark quotes Albert Einstein who wrote something years ago that puts it in perspective for him: “Those with the privilege to know have the duty to act.” In the following video, Mark shares his plan simply and to the point.

Mark Yarnell Minute

If you are involved in Network Marketing, you are probably familiar with Mark Yarnell. After he became successful, Mark wrote a book to help others find success in Network Marketing. I was waiting for the book's release and grabbed it as soon as it was available.

by Mark Yarnell

Actually I bought several to give to my team. The book was "Your First Year in Network Marketing."

One thing I learned from the book was that my personal experience was not so unusual, and what to avoid as well as what to do.

In a future post, I will tell you how I knew Mark and what he told me he did to achieve his success.

Mark's latest book is How to Become Filthy, Stinking Rich Through Network Marketing: Without Alienating Friends and Family

Is The Virgo New Moon A Lunar Re-Set?

"When you get right down to it, life is a grand mess – and in fact, it’s kind of beautiful that way. Maybe everything is already perfect, just as it is, and your only job is to figure out your place in it,"  writes April Elliott Kent on her blog
Big Sky Astrology

Referring to the Virgo new moon in August, Kent writes that Virgo encourages us to "become better,  more useful. Be of optimal service. Figure out what the world needs from you, and organize your life in such a way that you’re able to give it."

She offers that "If we orient ourselves in that way, she thinks "Virgo will be pleased with us – no matter how messy our houses, how unbalanced our checkbook, or how abundant our cellulite."

Molly Hall at About Astrology titles her entry Virgo New Moon — August 25th, 2014: Purify Thyself. She writes “So with this Virgo lunation, we enter the zone of decontamination from all that’s wafted and streamed through. It’s a lunar re-set, to redeem your sanity."

Hall asks "What are ways to sanitize your life?" She suggests that you ask yourself questions like,

“What’s cluttering up my life?”
or
“What’s toxic to my body, spirit, and mind?"

Are you trying to figure out your place in the scope of things? Are you one of those people wondering what the world needs from you and how you are going to give it? Do you wonder what's cluttering up your life? If you answer yes to any of these questions, let me suggest a  book that may be very helpful for you.

"Loyal Kleenex family will spend $994.00 on facial tissues over a lifetime!" ~Kimberrly Clark

Whether you're selling pizza, Kleenex or something else, if you can keep the customer coming back year after year, it all translates into the same thing: Money!

Today is the third Thursday of the beginning of the quarter (January, April, July and October) That means it's

Actually, the purpose of this day is to remind us how valuable our customers/Clients are to us.

How well do you know your customers?
When was the last time your customers/clients heard from you?
What do your customers want from you?

John and Yoko Inteviews

As this year is the Beatles U.S. Invasion 50th Anniversary, I feel ok about one more post about John Lennon. If you are a John Lennon fan, you may already know about the Smith Tapes. Now is the time to order your set of these interviews.

Never before released on CD, an 8 disc set of the five iconic conversations between John Lennon and Yoko Ono and Oscar winning film director, broadcaster and Village Voice journalist Howard Smith. These conversations took place between 1969-72 and the original tapes remained buried in the back of Smith's West Village loft for 40 years.

Today We Remember John Lennon

Today we remember John Lennon on the anniversary of his death. John Lennon's music was part of the background music of my life when I was young. The Beatles' lives and careers paralleled what was happening to baby boomers like me across the country and John was the smart articulate one.
"The Beatles were simply the biggest thing in the world, short of nuclear fear. They represented a sea change -- in music, in culture, in democracy itself. They weren't always comfortable with having that effect. 'People said the Beatles were the movement,' Lennon later said, 'but we were only part of the movement. We were influenced as much as we influenced.' True, but the Beatles were a key part of that movement. They represented youthful hope, and they represented the new social power that rock & roll might achieve -- a power not only to upset but to transform. The world was changing -- or at least it felt that way -- and the Beatles served as emblems of that change." ~ Mikal Gilmore, Music journalist writing in Rolling Stone
To many of us, John Lennon's death felt like a personal loss. Why? Henry Marchand, Assistant Professor of English at Cedar Crest College, answers this question so well:
" Why? Because John Lennon mattered. He was smart and he was funny and he was arrogant and he was a man who loved what he loved and who hated what he hated with utter clarity and no apology at all. He would have been an important voice in the Reagan eighties, and if he was with us today...it's hard to envision him quietly suffering..."
"Give Peace a chance"...we remember the man who wrote the words, and who wrote  "Happy Christmas/War is Over." We remember how it felt when he died. Now 30+ years after his death, his music and message endure. Lennon's iconic "Imagine" became the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed album of his solo career and was one of the 100 most-performed songs of the 20th century. "

In The Cynical Idealist: A Spiritual Biography of John Lennon the author and artist Gary Tillery credits Lennon with making significant contributions to many modern spiritual movements.
The reviewer writes "Cynical Idealist reveals, for the first time, the spiritual odyssey of this extraordinary man. Out of a turbulent life, from his troubled, working-class childhood throughout his many roles — Beatle, peace advocate, social activist, househusband — Lennon managed to fashion a philosophy that elevates the human spirit and encourages people to work, individually and collectively, toward a better world."

Now there is a step-by-step handbook of techniques and practices that can help you create an action plan for change.

The Practical Guide to Figuring Yourself Out -

How to Go From Stuck to Star of Your Life

This book is written by my friend and coach, Pat Honiotes, who brings her years of experience with personal empowerment coaching to create tools to be used by anyone that wants to discover who you are.

I was delighted to have had the opportunity to be the host on the second day of the Social Media Tour leading up to the launch of this new book.

If you missed the previous post by Christy Strauch at her blog Small Business Warrior, she wrote "Because Knowing Things Intellectually Is Only Half The Learning." Thanks to Christy for starting the book tour week.

Pat Honiotes provides her clients a safe, non-judgmental place to explore and grow, and she offers tools for growth to take place. I recently spoke with Pat about an issue that was really stressful for me. She offered me a couple of tools to help me take charge of the issue, and then she invited me to notice how quickly my energy had changed. I felt I had my power back.

Turning Inward

Crop Circle Design
Crop Circle 2004
Celebrate the turning of the Wheel of the Year and the Spirits of Nature

My friend Trish has inspired me to write today's post. She wrote: "I'm suffering from a deep lack of motivation (aka the blahs)... maybe it's the weather, maybe I need more veggies, maybe I need more sleep. For now I'm doing a little yoga, having a cup of tea, popping out my markers and notebook, and...It's time to nourish myself until the motivation moves back in full swing."

Congratulations, Trish! You are in tune with the turning of the season.

The Celtic new year is just days away with the Samhain celebration! Samhain (pronounced "sow-in") is the end of harvest season and the beginning of winter in the Celtic realm. It is a time of celebration before going into the dark time of the year, a time when the veils between the worlds are thin, spirits walk about, and intuition and visioning are enhanced.

In our Western solar calendar, Samhain (Hallowe'en) falls on the eve of October 31st and the day of November 1st. But in the ancient traditions of rural Ireland, time was marked by the cycles of the moon, so on a lunar calendar, Samhain falls on the New Moon, which this year is November 3.

Read more about Samhain click here!

Edie Stone, teacher of Celtic Studies, encourages us at this time to focus on honoring our loved ones and ancestors, releasing old patterns, and welcoming the New Year. She writes that the days following Hallowe’en (All Hallows Eve) are a soul-infused time, ripe for releasing old patterns and welcoming transformation.

Stone invites us to use this time to honor ancestors and loved ones, to journey to receive messages from beyond the veil, to release, heal and transform grief or loss.

In Native American Medicine Wheel Teaching, this is the time of the second moon of the Spirit-Keeper of the West. The Medicine Wheel represents the many cycles of life and this position on the west side of the wheel, like the Celtic tradition, teaches us how to travel between the different realms of creation and how to become a messenger for the spiritual aspects of life.

I use a Medicine Wheel as a useful tool that works towards maintaining and restoring balance. An animal that shows up in the Medicine Wheel at this time of the year is the bear. Bears teach us to slow down and reserve our energies.

Think of what the bear is doing at this time... preparing to go inward, to go into the dark. She is busy foraging for food to build fat to sustain herself throughout the winter months, nourishing her body with food that will carry her through the winter months and into the spring.

The sacred energy at Samhain is the dance of life and death that brings rebirth. Bear medicine also has to do with awakening from within. The strength of Bear medicine is the power of introspection.

Get To Know Your Customer Day

Gratutide
The third Thursday of the beginning of each quarter (January, April, July and October) is Get To Know Your Customer Day.  This is a day that happens once a quarter to remind us to put emphasis on getting to know our customers or clients.

Of all the businesses that you patronize, I wonder how many will tell you in some way how much they appreciate your business? I can't remember the last time someone let me know they appreciate my business except at Christmas.

The biggest asset to our business is our customer.

How Valuable is a Loyal Customer?

Peter Drucker once said the only purpose of any business existence is the customer. Do you connect with your customers when you are not trying to sell them something?

"There is more hunger for love and appreciation
in this world than for bread." ~Mother Teresa

Here are some tips for showing customer appreciation:

Send a thank-you note to every client past and present. Do not attempt to sell them anything, simply thank them for the business.

Make connections by sending cards on special occasions including key dates such as anniversaries and birthdays. Customer Relationship Management tools help us recall family, pet names, spouses and significant others. Customers think we have a great memory and they admire the attention. Sending cards takes no time, little investment and pays a huge return.

Click Here for the Customer Relationship Management tool I use.

Here are some more Tips:

Pick up the phone and call a customer you haven’t talked to in a while or don’t know that well.

Take someone to lunch or coffee.

Have a reception for a few of your customers.

Our goal is to take dedicated time to build a stronger relationship with a few of our customers. People do business with people they know, like and trust.

Use the "comment" below to say how you let your customers know you appreciate them!

I appreciate you for reading my blog!

Sing For Your Health

Café Singer Edgar Degas
Café Singer

A friend of mine posted on her FaceBook page a poster extolling the health benefits of singing which inspired me to write todays article. Here's a tip! Try singing and chanting for your health!

Singing, laughing and chanting make the sternum (the breast bone) vibrate which stimulates the immune system as the oscillations boost the thymus, a small gland in the chest behind the sternum which controls the production of the body’s key defense cells called T lymphocytes. When you sing or shout, pray or chant, laugh or listen to music, whether it be recorded or played live by many musicians, the Thymus is stimulated.

The early Greeks referred to the Thymus as the "Seat of Life Energy", but western medical science has not always understood the function of the thymus gland. Now the thymus is recognized as a gland closely related to the immune system, stress, and general well-being.  It directs life-giving and healing energies of the body, and is strongly influenced by an individual's physical environment, social relationships, food and posture.

The thymus becomes smaller and smaller with age and almost disappears in the end. It is largest and most active during the neonatal and pre-adolescent periods, but by the early teens, the thymus begins to atrophy.

Some researchers believe that different infections and cancers in old people are closely linked to the decline in T lymphocyte production. Hence, stimulating the thymus in some way either through laughing, chanting or singing can be helpful in maintaining or improving health as we age or experience illness.

Chinese Medicine uses Tapping the Thymus to help stimulate the production of T-cells, which are primary immune factors. Practiced daily, tapping will also increase the size of the thymus.

Vibrations in the throat also stimulate the Thyroid, the gland which produces hormones that regulate metabolism and the body’s energy consumption and body weight.

So now you know! The Fountain of Youth was inside YOU all the time. Keep laughing and singing for a long and healthy life!

What do you do to stay young and healthy?

Celebrating Winter Solstice In The Year 2012

On December 21 share with me the rebirth from darkness into light as our annual cycle of life begins again in the Northern Hemisphere.

Winter Solstice has always been one of my favorite days of the year. One reason is all the holiday celebrating, decorations and focus on giving. The other reason is I know that from this day, the light begins to return, the days begin to get longer instead of shorter and I know that spring will come.

This year people seem to be paying a lot more attention than usual to this pivotal day because of all the media attention with "end of the world" predictions. Truth be told, the world we knew began "ending" in 2001. Is any part of your life the same as it was before 9/11? We have been moving into the new world for 10 years.

Image Hosting by PictureTrail.com

The following information is a good explanation of what I believe is happening around this Solstice without the hype of many other things I've read or heard. I would love to hear what you think about this info.

"All prophecy is fluid and changeable. The future is not set in stone. The reason is simple. We create our own reality through our collective thinking otherwise known as the mass consciousness. What a prophet "sees" is one of the probable outcomes of our future. If we don't like what the prophet has to say, we have the power to change it.

Cosmic cycles are nothing new to our ancestors. They are a part of the lore and history of many ancient civilizations. The Mayans studied them with a passion, and they served as the foundation of their sky religion. Even Plato was aware of the most important cycle for our planet occurring every 25,920 years, which he and others called the Great Year.

Today we find ourselves at the end of the 2160-year Age of Pisces, the beginning of Aquarius, the close of the Mesoamerican fifth world, the ending of the Kali Yuga (Iron Age) of the Hindus, and the extreme end of the Great Year."

And then this from Griffith Observatory

"Some have claimed an alignment of planets occurs on winter solstice, 2012, and will cause a catastrophic reversal of the earth's magnetic field. There is no such planetary alignment on winter solstice, 2012, and even if all the planets did align in this fashion, it would not cause such a reversal of the Earth's magnetic field. There have been numerous planetary alignments and they have had no effect on the Earth."

An Irish Christmas Blessing

The light of the Christmas star to you
The warmth of home and hearth to you
The cheer and good will of friends to you
The hope of a childlike heart to you
The joy of a thousand angels to you
The love of the Son and God's peace to you.

Many people don't realize that a lot of the customs we use to celebrate Christmas are deeply rooted in Celtic Culture, which is much older than the Christian tradition.

Advent Wreath, Holly and Christmas Trees come from Celtic traditions. Maybe you will want to celebrate a Celtic Christmas. To learn more click Celebrating A Celtic Christmas.
